Under Armour’s New Face Mask ‘Made for Athletes’ Sells Out In an Hour

Given the nature of its name, anyone who purchases or even peruses products by Under Armour expects for the goods to provide protection. Based on the recent success that the company has been enjoying over a face mask release, we can say that the business enjoys upholding that reputation, as a face mask designed for athletic endeavors sold out in an hour.

Under Armour has made itself a steady presence in the apparel world over the last 24 years, earning frequent analysis from Promo Marketing in the process. For the second time this spring, we are looking at the entity’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with a face mask again at the center. For this instance, Under Armour unveiled its Sportsmask on June 11, with the $30 PPE item becoming an instant hit, leading CEO Patrick Frisk to declare that next month will see more offerings.

During the pandemic, exercise has taken on greater significance, particularly running, since most normal forms of recreation or even opportunities to head outside have undergone fast changes, suspensions and cancellations. Therefore, it makes sense that an item “intended for daily wear & use in sports by healthy individuals” would garner attention. We do not know how many consumers made the face mask their newest defense against the spread of coronavirus, but we suspect that Under Armour made a considerable number of goods available.

As for the face mask, Under Armour intends for it to “reduce the spread of respiratory droplets by the wearer,” so with warmer weather and, thus, more desires to engage in external exercise options on the horizon, Frisk would be wise to live up to his vow to have more available in July. The success of the face mask has us wondering about what other coverings might soon hit the market, particularly those geared toward people who yearn to escape their homes for some pulse-raising, sunshine-greeting activities.
